Come Dine With Me (Part I)

Everyday RICE!!
No no no!

Couldn't hack another day of rice so I cooked something different,
           Shepherd's Pie.

Shepherd's Pie is a classic British meal and if you're not a big fan of mince or potatoes then it's not the dish for you.

I've made it three times now so I'm pretty much an expert *wink*

I ain't no Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsey but I do have my own  recipe for making it.         Not too complicated, simple and quick.

Here it goes . . .

To make the mince you'll require:
  • Beef Mince
  • Carrots
  • Peas
  • Onions
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Marmite
  • Spices: rosemary + anything that suits you best
To make the mash topping you'll require:
  • Potatoes
  • Fresh Milk
  • Butter
Making the mince:
  1. First, I fried the mince and chopped onions till it was slightly brown then added the carrots.
  2. Then I added my favourite spices ranging from: curry powder, all-purpose seasoning, paprika, black pepper ...
  3. I then scooped a spoon of marmite into a cup of hot water.
  4. Then poured the water into the mince and added the peas.
  5. I left the mixture to simmer for about 10 minutes
Making the mash topping:

  1. I boiled about 400g of potatoes in salted water to give it some flavour.
  2. Then mashed the potatoes.
  3. I added some milk and butter for a smooth paste and fluffy look.

When the mince was done, I poured it into an oven proof dish:

Mince with carrots, peas and onions.
Then smoothed a few layers of the mash topping unto the mince:

After this, I left the dish in the oven to brown off.

And DRUM ROLL please  .. . .. .

Served and ready to be consumed ..

Till next time folks x
